This will be sent nearer the date to all the local papers covering the route and hopefully we will get a few curious people to stand at the waters edge to cheer Stephen on and contribute to the cause or maybe just come out to see what kind of idiot Rows from Mirfield to London!!!

PRESS RELEASE

Rowing For Children – Challenge***

Stephen Brook*  is recently retired and is a member of  the “Safe Anchor Trust” based in Mirfield, West Yorkshire and Wooden Spoon** along with his wife Jennifer acting as navigator is to take on the challenge of rowing from his home town of Huddersfield to London via various waterways.  The journey of 322 miles is anticipated to take around six weeks and will commence on xx August 2012. Stephen is rowing to raise money for children’s charities***. His rowing boat “The Swan” has been bought by Stephen especially for the journey and is currently out of the water being re refurbished.

Individuals can sponsor Stephen by making donations via  https://rowingforchildren.wordpress.com –make a donation.

NB.  Company sponsorship would also be welcome.

*Stephen age 66 is married to Jennifer and lives in Huddersfield. He is currently in fulltime training in the gym to prepare for the trip. His intention is to row the 322 miles including 228 locks in about six weeks rowing on average 10 miles per day.

Aims –To provide free access to the waterways for special needs groups; In partnership with British Waterways, to improve towpaths and canal-side environment; To contribute, with our partners in providing a safer environment by reducing the opportunities for crime; To provide education and training opportunities for young people.
